Wilde Writing Works

What's New

PangeoI'm still recovering from an eventful trip to Wales in November that began with getting detained because didn't have the work permit I needed. I think everyone should get fingerprints and mug shots at least once in a career! While in Wales, I made great head way in conceptualizing a new website, but while that's in the works wanted to share recent works!

These include children's book articles about School Jitters, First Novels, and Holiday Books. I did quite interviews, including: Jenny Nimmo, Jay Asher, Jon Scieszka and Deborah Wiles. Then there are the 2007 Wilde Awards for Picture Books and for Novels.

In terms of adult work, I interviewed Karin Slaughter and have written both Fall and Winter Adult Audio Recommendations.

I had the complete joy of working with fifth graders at Scroggs Elementary School in Chapel Hill to write an allegorical story that is the basis for an almost year long project of integrated arts programming that includes a Story Quilt, a song, musical accompaniment and movement/dance piece based on American Sign Language. All of these will make an appearance at their annual Frog Fest Arts event. This is nearly a year-long project that was generously funded by the North Carolina Arts Council. Here is Pangeo's Story and an image from the developing quilt!

Happy new beginnings, Susie
